Introducing a Proven Way to Get Someone Else to Do All The Hard work And Help You Earn More From Your Online Business
When I first started out it seemed that every spare hour was spent working on my online ventures in order to get them bringing in some money. I’d always be reading about how people spent just a few hours a day working on their PC, whilst I’d be strapped to it from the moment I got up to late in the evening. My business was growing slowly – really slowly – and things were starting to get on top of me. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
Thankfully there’s a solution: one that lets lazy bums like me to work less and earn more. It’s called outsourcing. This is perfect for anyone who hates writing or any of those other tasks that might stop you from getting your business online. Outsourcing is the process of hiring freelancers to do the menial jobs that don’t build your business.
For example if you’re spending two months writing your own eBook are you making any money in that time? No. If you spend three days creating a graphic for your eBook cover are you bringing in any cash? Nope. Not a sausage.
With outsourcing you hire people to do things so that you can concentrate on marketing and making money. You can hire people to:
• Create products.
• Write sales letters
• Write email follow ups (auto responder messages)
• Answer customer service emails
• Create graphics
• Do keyword research
• Optimise your web site for the search engines
• Write articles
• Write blog posts
• And much, much more
The guys making the real money online don’t spend hours slaving away at the computer because they have others doing the hard work for them. Think of Bill Gates. Do you think he sits at his Apple Mac (now THAT would be ironic) tapping away on the keyboard answering customer service emails? God no. He’s hired people to do everything so he can enjoy life.
Your aim should be to get to a certain stage where you’re nothing more than a project manager. You want to have people creating products, writing sales letters, creating marketing materials and so on so all you need to do is put these projects together and get them making money. A few hours a day is all that takes.
So where do you go to hire freelancers? Where can you find people to do the menial jobs for the cheapest price? Here’s a few that are worth checking out:
www.elance.com
This is a great site. At elance you can literally find people to do absolutely anything (within reason of course). Like most freelance sites it’s like a kind of “reverse eBay” site. You post a project asking telling people what you want done and freelancers bid on it. You can then choose which freelancer you want to do the job.
When I first started online elance was the place to go to. Now, like anything, it’s got such attention the prices people bid on projects seems to be pretty inflated. That said this is probably the first place I’d go. This is where the big dogs hang out with regards to writing projects. If you want an ebook, article, blog posts or anything typed out this is the place to come.
Elance are very professional, have great support and should always be kept in mind no matter what the project.
My verdict: 4 out of 5. Bit pricey, but hey I’d rather pay a little extra to get the best then pay bottom prices for bottom of the rung quality
www.rentacoder.com
This web site is, or at least was, more for those looking to have software created or some kind of script installed on their web site. Software is BIG business and may seem like a tough niche to get into. It’s not really. Just one decent idea could make a fortune.
More and more these days I’m starting to see people post writing projects here, probably due to the rise in prices at elance. Would I hire someone to write a book for me from here? If they’re good enough I don’t care where they’re coming from.
For me it’s not as good a layout as elance but still good enough.
My verdict: 5 out of 5 for software etc, 3 out of 5 for other projects.
www.guru.com
Ok I hold my hands up here and can’t speak from personal experience with this one. However I’ve heard some really good things about it and will certainly be looking into it in the future. Guru.com seems to be the place to go to hire people who can create multi media products live online video, audio, screen capture tutorials and son. These won’t be cheap, but we’re on the cusp of a multimedia revolution with online video and so on so can be a great investment.
What kind of projects would you hire hear? Well you could hire someone to interview an expert (which you record and turn into an info product).
You could hire someone to create a screen capture tutorial on how to use a tricky piece of software or how to build a web site. Pretty much anything you can think of you’ll be able to find an expert freelancer here.
My verdict: Going with other peoples’ reviews and words I’d say 4 out of 5. Little expensive, but definitely worth it. Two out of 5 for writers not really a writers freelancing web site.
Picking the right people for your project
When picking any freelancer to outsource a project there are some do’s and don’ts. If you pick the wrong person you can end up out of pocket and with nothing to show for it. Here are the Do’s and Don’ts of outsourcing:
Do make sure you check the feedback of any freelancers you’re considering hiring. Make sure you take a look at what previous people who have hired them have to say. Look to see if the projects they hired for are similar to yours and that they were impressed with the service.
Don’t hire anyone who hasn’t got any feedback at all. It’s just not worth it. If you hire someone to take on a project and they turn out to be completely useless it may take three weeks before you find out you’re wasting your money. Only hire those with some good feedback.
Do look around for a while before picking someone for your project. Don’t just find someone with good feedback and jump in straight away. Post a project, wait seven days and then go through all the results picking the one that suits your needs the most.
Don’t pick the cheapest just because they’re offering you a good deal. I made this mistake the first time I ever outsourced a project and the result was an ebook that looked like a child had written it. Unfortunately because he had created the book I had to pay. Don’t make the same mistake I did. It’s much better to pay a little more and get quality, then pay peanuts and get rubbish.
Do use the outsourcing companies escrow service. This way you only release the money to the freelancer working on your project once you are satisfied with what it is you have asked them to do.
Don’t pay anything up front. Money is a motivator and if people already have your cash there is no reason for them to work hard on your project.
Do give a deadline in your advert. Always say something like “I need this project to be completed in two weeks due to a tight deadline. Please do not bid on this project if you are unable to meet this requirement.
Don’t just pick someone for a project and leave them to it. Tell them you want updates of their work every few days so you can see how they are progressing.
When you have a bit of capital to outsource projects make sure you at least take a look around the above sites and use the tips in this article to get the best person at the best price. If you want to grow your business and online ventures in the fastest possible time outsourcing is a must.
